Who we are
Welcome to the Gloucester Sea Hive — a coastal haven for sustainable beekeeping, hand-harvested honey, and beeswax goods rooted in resilience, tradition, and care.
We’re a Black, veteran- and woman-owned small business based in the historic fishing town of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Our hive is powered by family, community, and a deep respect for the natural world. What began as a personal journey into beekeeping has blossomed into a mission: to produce pure, small-batch honey and beeswax products that honor our local ecosystem and the hardworking pollinators that make it all possible.
At the Sea Hive, our bees are raised with intention — tended to by hand and heart in a coastal climate that offers unique floral notes and seasonal rhythms. Every jar of honey and every bar of beeswax reflects the place we call home and the care we pour into every step, from hive to harvest.
We believe in:
• Sustainability: No shortcuts — just clean, ethical practices that support healthy hives and healthy habitats.
• Stewardship: We believe in care over control. Stewardship means listening to the natural rhythms of the hive and the land, and making decisions that prioritize the long-term health of both. It’s about being responsible keepers—not just of bees, but of place, practice, and purpose.
• Education & Empowerment: We’re here to inspire others, especially families and future beekeepers, to connect with nature, learn the craft, and build something meaningful.
• Representation: We proudly stand as part of the growing movement of Black beekeepers and artisan makers, sharing our voice, our vision, and our values through every product we offer.
Whether you’re here for raw local honey, handmade beeswax goods, or just curious about the world of beekeeping — thank you for supporting our hive. You’re part of something sweet.
With gratitude,
~Gloucester Sea Hive
